The mayor of Spring Valley, Demeza Delhomme is in the midst of an impeachment trial, facing over 40 counts of official misconduct. Mayor Delhomme listened intently as Village Trustee Vilar Fonvil took the stand for cross-examination, Wednesday reports Fios1 News.
The mayor’s lawyer, Kenneth Brown, brought up Fonvil’s vulgar language against the mayor, weighing his actions against accusations that Delhomme threatened him.
When Fonvil admitted to telling the mayor to “go f— yourself” during questioning, Brown said, “well, that was certainly an ugly incident by you at village hall.”
The mayor is in court as a result of a petition signed by hundreds of village residents about Delhomme’s treatment of others. He’s accused of religious discrimination, appointing and firing employees illegally, paying for private trips with village funds, and not complying with resolutions the village had passed over the years.
His attorney argued that the mayor didn’t know in advance about the resolutions until the meeting, but according to the town’s rules, they can be presented at that time.
Testimony for this case will continue on Friday
