New York, NY – A coalition of more than two dozen non-profit organizations, labor unions, and advocacy groups sent a joint letter to the New York Congressional Delegation demanding that the delegation reject the American Health Care Act (AHCA), Friday.
The announcement of the letter came at an event held in Watertown, NY, with AARP and several providers calling on Representative Stefanik (NY-21) to reject the AHCA.
The signatories stated in the letter that the “AHCA would strip health insurance from millions of New Yorkers, profoundly restructure and cut billions of dollars from the New York State Medicaid program, and cut reimbursement to the state’s already financially fragile health care providers.”
Instead, the letter urges New York Representatives to work towards health care policies that ensure uninterrupted health care access for the 850,000 New Yorkers who gained coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), do not harm the New York State budget, and protect the 600,000 New Yorkers benefiting from Essential Benefits, among others.
Signatories included AARP NY, the Greater New York Hospital Association, the Community Service Society of New York, the New York State AFL-CIO, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, and others.
