MV Man Shot In Head In His Home

Westchester Magazine ranks Mount Vernon #1 in Violent Crime

Mount Vernon- A Mount Vernon man, Tasheem Boyd, shot in the head, while sitting on the couch of his second-floor apartment at 141 North High Street, Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:30 PM.

Boyd was transported to Jacobi and is still alive but in critical condition, Black Westchester is being told. The suspected gunman is still unknown and on the loose. No further info.

While we have yet to confirm, sources tell BW it appeared to be gang-related. 141 North High Street is also the same scene of the 2016 Easter Day driveby shooting.

Westchester Magazine reports in their October 2017 issue ranks the city of Mount Vernon the highest in Violent Crimes in the County of Westchester with a ranking of 79.5. To put this in perspective in their chart titled, OUR TOWNS: The Numbers You Need To Know, the average ranking of the other 42 municipalities in Westchester County is 29.1. Mount Vernon was considerably higher than the next seven highest cities with Elmsford ranking 49, Yonkers ranking 45.4, Mount Kisco ranking 44, Rye ranking 43,  Port Chester ranking 42, and Tuckahoe ranking 41.4.

The data researched by Aimee Hirsch compiled the list of Violent Crime, from 1 (low crime) to 100, composed of four offenses; murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault. The United States average is 41.

BOYCOTT FOR BLACK LIVES T-SHIRT  BUY HERE

Colin Kaepernick has committed no crime other than spoke truth to power about the injustices to black people in the United States. For this, he should not be punished by blackballing him from the game of football. If people want change, we must Boycott! It’s up to us to protest but not just physically; with our money. If black lives don't matter to them, then our black dollars shouldn't either.
